THE COLLECTION STORY

This collection spans a very formative and raw time in my life.
I made the first pieces of this series in Pokhara, my normal home-base in Nepal, in generally good moments. I was feeling inspired and was so enjoying exploring new ideas - seen especially in CRYSTAL BALL and TIMELESS.

Then, unexpectedly, everything changed in an instant.
We received news that my partner's mom had tragically passed away. My partner is from a Nepali village about 300 km from Pokhara. Within an hour of hearing the news, we had packed up our apartment and were on our way to the village. We plunged into 13 days of intense mourning.
Creating was my island of refuge in this time. The PHOENIX piece was made in this space. A space between despair and hope, where I firmly decided to choose hope.
This is when I became clear on my concept for this collection. It is a story of rising after tragedy. A story of not letting difficulty keep you down.
I created every piece after PHOENIX in this vein. I wanted to convey positivity and finding light in the darkness, because this is the message that I so needed in this time.
I hope that this collection inspires this feeling for you, too. May we all choose to rise from our pain and become stronger from it.
